On an analog readout battery load tester what do the steps between the green/yellow areas indicate in CCA area?

such as the Associated standard 6029 (the operating instructions don't seem to explain this). The green area gets wider and the yellow ground narrower as you go down closer to the rotating point of the readout needle.
The yellow stepped field is an indicator of Cold Cranking Amps that your battery has in reserve when doing the ten second load test. Check tick off the CCA rating of your battery before the test and then see how close the reading matches your battery

Go to your nearest automobile battery blow the whistle on buy. They always have one for testing vehicle batteries. You can ask them where they can be bought. Or maybe they have a spare that they can sell to you at a low price.

Distributor told me my battery failed the load test. Its an 03 Audi A4 1.8T, but it seems to start fine, it struggled a taste during the frigid winter last winter but always started. How do I know if the dealer is just trying to nick a fast one passed
Chances are the salesman is telling you the truth and the battery will end up leaving you somewhere you don't want to be. To do a quick easy load test, hook up a volt meter to the battery look the voltage should be around 12.7V if it's around 13 or so
You can have the technician present a full load test and check the ripple lines of the alternator with a professional charging system tester -- not valid a small hand held tester. Dear Doctor: I own a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 with 75000 miles.
The V has a lot of it, and I was masterly to haul home a load of empty cardboard boxes to reuse, on top of my regular luggage, and that of my helpmeet. Plus, I've driven the standard Prius, and while not very engaging, it was comfortable, and had its charms.
