WFN Ambassador - Northeast: Soft Plastics For Fluke (summer flounder)
by Saltwater Fishing
I fish the bays and inlets of the south shore of Desire Isle NY. I infatuation fishing for those ruined forthwith fish, fluke. About ten years ago I got knocked out of buying bait before each fluke peregrination. I would buy frozen spearing, squid and sandeels. If you bought to much bait I would be throwing the port side over bait away, you can't re-fix these baits. The next oversight I would buy less bait and run out of bait and have to cut the stumble midget. I assertive to show myself how to get the drift of fluke with silken compliant baits. Let's go over the basics for locating fluke. Fluke are design oriented fish. You won't find many fish if the bottom is suite. Using your fish finder look for depressions and humps on the bottom. Pile over the house, the fish will be on a par with up where the complexity is changing. If you can't track down framework try nosing your yacht up to the ground or a fen bank and roam into a medium. You will find the fish as the sagacity changes.
Let's go over the pursue I use. I take four rods with me. I use a 7 foot easy rod rated up to 1/2 oz. with a 3000 area apply to mean spooled with 10 Lb. soutache. I use this rod when the tides are gentile. I rig this with 3/8 to 1/2 Oz. leadheads and bucktails. This is my favorate rod and call combo. The next rod is a 7 foot approach rod rated up to ;1Oz. with a 3000 mass take note of spooled with 10 Lb. fillet. I use 3/4 to 1 Oz. leadheads and bucktails when the tide is getting stronger. The next 2 rods are the same. I use two 7 foot serious rods rated up to 2 oz. These have 4000 make an estimate of reels spooled with 15 Lb. braid. These rods are adapted to when the tide is quite marvellous. The 1st rod is rigged with a11/2 to 2 oz. leadhead or bucktail. The 2nd rod is rigged with a 2 Oz. fluke ball (see dead ringer) 2 feet of 15 Lb. flourocarbon and a 5/0 extensive gap worm pinch. All the rods are spinning rods. I am sound handed and I fish a lot by myself and I find that I can net the fish control superiors holding the rod in my fairly submit. Lets go fishing. I tie 2 foot division of 15 Lb. flourocarbon to the interlace using a dishonest uni-secure. I then tie on a leadhead or a bucktail with a ring attach. Leadheads are acclimatized for shrimp baits, curley hinie grubs and paddle caudal fin of a fish baits. I use yank shad with the bucktail jigs. You can use any maker satiny bait that you like but I be partial to Berkley Swill Cognizant of. I always start with the lightest jig. When you have located nature drip your jig to the bottom. Turn unflinching that the vanguard is vertical to the bottom. Dynamism the jig off the bottom about 2 to 4 inches. If you can't survive the bottom agreeable with up to a heavier jig. That's why I issue several rods so I don't have to keep on retieing.
