How do I get a good dust collection system going for a compound sliding miter saw?

I have a Dewalt DW718 mix sliding miter saw. There is a dust collection vent with an adapter piece at the end to tie into a vaccum system. When I hook my shop-vac up, its gets some of the saw dust, but unequivocally a bit hits the throat of the saw,
I have to acquiesce in with answer 1. Certainly a more powerful shop vac/exhaust system would work also, and usually found in commercial shops.

if the saw is stationary, and not motorized, you could build a wooden funnel behind the saw, narrowing down to the shopvac hose. i do this, and virtually no cleaning up afterwards

Im in the Stock Exchange and my biggest concern is fit and finish .
I do custom trim, cabinets, doors, exc.. my old dewalt is on its way out and I dont like the new dewalts that I have seen and tried. Im sensible, makita, ridgid, or maybe bosch.
Most saws with virtuous names will work if you maintain the accuracy. My preference is DeWalt only because there is a DeWalt store nearby (and I don't have to deal with Nursing home Despot for things like crown stops, etc.

Let the blade do the work... don't try to rush the cut.
