from an industrial sized champion air compressor. its description of yellow. it almost smells like paint.
Unless your compressor is sucking in toxic air, the condensate is not toxic. The yellow color is from rust that is forming core the compressor tank. Not much you can do about that.

how foremost is it to drain the compressor daily? can it actually explode?(for a large compressor-see link to size)

It is portentous to drain the tank daily when it is being used. It collects water in the tank and this will be passed on to your air tools or to a clean/dryer system if you have that installed. Water will cause the tank to rust also. I don't know why
